Course Description
This course is part of the Virtuoso® Spectre® Pro series and focuses on the DC Analysis algorithms of the Spectre Circuit Simulator and its corresponding analysis options. In this class, you learn how the Spectre simulator uses the DC Algorithm and reaches a DC operating point solution. You also learn various convergence methods to overcome the rare scenario in which your solution does not converge. This course also discusses manual convergence methods that can be used to reach your DC solution.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Interpret the DC Analysis algorithm
- Use nodal analysis and create the conductance matrix
- Resolve the matrix to find a solution
- Describe the Newton-Raphson iterative method for convergence
- Decode convergence and associated convergence aids
- Use the automatic method for DC convergence
- Apply nodesets and initial conditions on the circuit for convergence
- Use the diagnose output option to view and resolve convergence issues
- Use a manual method to obtain DC convergence
