Course Description
Onboard new Virtuoso® IC designers to become proficient with the core Virtuoso Layout connectivity-driven commands, features, and flows. The training proceeds from basic to more advanced layout design. It is also a foundation for additional advanced layout training noted in the related courses section below. The format includes lectures plus labs to build skills and proficiency in the Virtuoso Layout environment in Virtuoso Studio.
Examples of some of the commands and features in this training are:
- Dynamic Measurement, Smart Snapping of Ruler in the Quick Align Command, and Selecting Objects
- Showing Alignment Markers during Interactive Routing – Overview
- How to Update the Net and the Pin Names and Implement the Schematic Changes in the Layout
- How to Generate Synchronous Copy Clones of Wires and Examine its Synchronous Behavior
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Customize your Virtuoso Layout working environment
- Leverage the UI to create, measure, snap, and align your layout designs
- Automate the creation of layout shapes, which will improve your productivity
- Take advantage of the wires (vs. paths) in your everyday layout tasks
- Use the connectivity-driven layout flow to create your layout building blocks using manual and automated methods
- Understand and leverage Constraint Groups in your layout designs
- Create layout structures using the features of Generate Clones and Synchronous Copy
- Update your layout after an Engineering Change Order (ECOi)
- Increase productivity using the assisted features in the Create Wire commands
- Use different levels of automation to route wires using the existing connectivity information
In addition, you will build a foundation for progressing to more advanced assisted and automated layout tools and flows.
